Vanaf deze maand heeft De Toestroom een nieuwe rubriek op de (nieuwe) website: Leden in de spotlight! Elke maand komt er een ander Toestroom lid aan de beurt om meer te vertellen of zichzelf, zijn/haar bedrijf en de reden dat hij/zij lid is van de Toestroom.

Graag stel ik me aan u voor…

Jurgen van der Steen, de man achter Kookpunt.
Kookpunt is gespecialiseerd in catering, homecooking, foodstyling en conceptontwikkeling, en werkt voor zowel particulieren als bedrijven. Daarnaast is er door onze verhuizing naar de Burgemeester Canterslaan natuurlijk de mogelijkheid om gezellig te komen koken met vrienden, familie of collega’s!

Ik ben een mensen-mens, een teamplayer en werk graag samen met mensen aan de oplossing van een vraagstuk. Samen, want ik ben ervan overtuigd dat brede draagkracht onmisbaar is in optimalisatietrajecten. Ik geloof in de kracht van een goed en gemotiveerd team. Ik denk mee over conceptideeën en schuw de werkvloer niet. Het beste advies krijgt men toch van iemand die weet hoe het er in de praktijk aan toe gaat. Door mijn verschillende functies ken ik de horecamarkt als geen ander en ben ik bekend met zowel de culinaire als de logistieke en inkoopprocessen.

Loopbaan

Mijn liefde voor koken en de horeca had ik al op de basisschool. Niet vreemd, want mijn oma en vader zijn beiden werkzaam geweest in de horeca. Nadat ik succesvol het SVH leerlingstelsel had doorlopen, kwam ik als vanzelf in de horeca terecht. Ruim 24 jaar werkte ik in verschillende horecazaken in binnen- en buitenland. Niets binnen de horeca is mij vreemd: van catering tot pretpark en van diverse (sterren)restaurants in Nederland tot een driesterrensterrenrestaurant in Frankrijk. Ook heb ik diverse malen gouden medailles verdiend tijdens kookwedstrijden in binnen- en buitenland. Rond 2004 kwam ik in aanraking met kookclubjes en het verzorgen van thuisdiners. Zo groeide het verlangen om voor mezelf te beginnen. In 2006 startte ik met Kookpunt, naast mijn vaste baan. Sinds 1 januari 2010 richt ik mij volledig op Kookpunt.

Waarom ben ik lid van de Toestroom?

Vaak ben ik druk, desondanks vind ik het belangrijk om op de hoogte te blijven van wat er leeft onder de ondernemers van Oisterwijk. Dat is een van de redenen dat ik probeer naar de bijeenkomsten van de Toestroom te komen, daarnaast inspireren dit soort bijeenkomsten me vaak.

Het ontsluiten van elkaars netwerk is belangrijk! Wanneer je het goed doet, loop je altijd wel iemand tegen het lijf waarvoor jezelf iets kunt betekenen, of andersom.
